Thailand & Indochina Summer time.
What can you expect when you travel in summer to Thailand and or Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar? From May till October its the 'green' season. There are occassional rain showers which normally last 1 hour on average per day. There are days of dry, sunny weather and there are days of drizzle rain. Usually there is a short shower in the late evening or early morning. The great advantage of the 'green' season is that everything is in full bloom and the prices for hotels are at the lowest level of the year.
Beach stay during summer
The best beaches with the less chance of rain can be found in the Gulf of Thailand; Koh Samui, Koh Phangang, Koh Tao, Koh Madsum. A new rather un-discovered place to go during the green season would be the beaches of 'Kanom' which is located south of Surat Thani and north of Nakorn Sri Thamarat.
Recommended off-the beaten track from North Laos to Cambodia.
One of the programs we have developed and which more of our clients book is a journey through the countries of Laos and Cambodia. A great experience is to start north of Chiang Rai in Thailand and cross the border into Houayxay. From there to take a cruise down the Mekong River via Pak Beng to Luang Prabang. After we go south via Vang Vieng, Vientiane, Paske, Champasak to Si Pan Don (1000 islands). Cross border into North Cambodia and via Kratie to Pnom Phen and Siem Reap/Angkor. If you desire a beach stay at the end we can recommend some nice small boutique hotels at Otres beach, a few minutes by local tuk tuk from Sihanoukville.
