DAY 1 ARRIVE HA NOI
On arrival at
Noi Bai Airport, we will be met and transferred to our centrally located hotel. After welcome drink and tour briefing, we are free to explore the delights of
Ha Noi’s colonial charm.
DAY 2 HA NOI
Our ‘warm up’ ride this morning takes us to
the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh, his humble house on stilts, the
One Pillar Pagoda and the
Temple of Literature before peddling to the
Prison Museum and the
Old Quarter. In the evening we enjoy a performance of water puppetry.
DAY 3 HA NOI - HA LONG
Crossing the mighty
Red River, we cycle through the rural countryside of the Red River
Delta. Verdant rice fields, modest villages, placid water buffalos and toiling farmers punctuate the landscape as we head to
the World Heritage Site of
Ha Long Bay, with its mystical limestone islets.
DAY 4 HA LONG - HA NOI
This morning is spent cruising through the bay’s staggering scenery, with opportunities to swim and explore the legendary caves. After a sumptuous seafood lunch, we head to the harbour and cycle back to
Ha Noi, breaking at
Dong Trieu Ceramic Village and learn the secrets of this traditional art.
DAY 5 HA NOI - HOA BINH - EXPRESS TRAIN
We cycle to
Hoa Binh, visiting the hill tribe villages of the
Muong and
Dao minority groups. Here we gain insight into a different way of life while savouring the generous hospitality of our hosts. We return to
Ha Noi and free until boarding our overnight train to
Hue.
DAY 6 HUE
Arrive Hue in the moring and cycle along
the Perfume River to the beautiful
Thien Mu Pagoda. We then board our
Dragon Boat and sail up the majestic and inspiring
Tomb of King Ming Mang, before returning to gentle bustle of
Hue.
DAY 7 HUE - DA NANG - HOI AN
Today we discover the
Imperial Citadel before cycling over the
Hai Van Pass to
Da Nang. Crossing the
Han River, we follow the coastal road through
Marble Mountains and
China Beach to the atmospheric old merchant town of
Hoi An.DAY 8 HOI AN
A moring tour through the narrow heritage streets with 200-year-old houses, Japanese cover bridge, temples and vibrant market offer a fascinating exploration. Afternoon is free to relax our tired muscles with a swim at nearby
Cua Dai beach.
DAY 9 HOI AN - QUANG NGAI
Leaving the charms of
Hoi An behind we cycle through the rice fields of central
Viet Nam, observing the busy rural life first hand. We visit the
My Lai Memorial a moving and poignant reminder to the horrors of war before arriving into
Quang Ngai.
DAY 10 QUANG NGAI - QUI NHON
A combination of driving and cycling takes us through spectacular costal scenery to
Qui Nhon. As we approach this one time fishing village there is the opportunity to cycle less trafficked roads and discover the striking ruins of the regions
Cham Towers.
DAY 11 QUI NHON - NHA TRANG
Today’s route is lined with dramatic granite cliffs, salt fields and shrimp farms as we make our way through the picturesque bay and fishing village of
Dai Lanh to the busy city and resort town of
Nha Trang.
DAY 12 NHA TRANG
Resting our bicycles, we cruise through the islands of Nha Trang. Snorkelling, swimming, and fresh seafood at the fishing village can be enjoyed before returning to the mainland and discovering the delights of massages, manicures and the busy night life.
DAY 13 NHA TRANG - DA LAT
The steep ascent of
Ngoan Muc Pass brings the reward of
the South Central Highlands cooler climate and fresh crisp air. We cycle through pine-clad hillsides, orchards of fruit, flower gardens, and vegetable farms to
Prenn Falls and the old French Hill Station of
Da Lat.
DAY 14 DA LAT - HO CHI MINH CITY
The morning is spent exploring the central market, visit
Emperor Bao Dai’s summer palace, cycle around the lake or discover the fascinating architecture of
the old French Villas. We descent into the frenetic bustle and energy of
Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon.
DAY 15 HO CHI MINH CITY - CU CHI
After visiting
the Reunification Palace and the
War Remnants Museum, we cycle to
Cho Lon,
Ho Chi Minh City’s Chinatown and
Binh Tay Market. In the afternoon we venture to
Cu Chi, exploring the remarkable and intricate underground tunnel network before returning to
Ho Chi Minh City.
DAY 16 DEPART HO CHI MINH CITY
Free at leisure until transfering to the airport for departure flight.
