Phang Nga Bay is the sheer limestone cliffs that jut vertically out of the emerald green water. A leisurely day trip cruising through the dramatic limestone islands, occasionally stopping to enjoy quiet beaches, is far more rewarding than the standard bus-boat tour.
Itinerary
Circumnavigate the Bay in just one day in our "fast longtail" Boat - traditional, cabined, close to the water - and fast. Throw some kayaks on the cabin and "pai teau" (just go) with a small group of good people, two great guides and a Bay filled with bizarre and dramatic limestone. We explore at least three remote islands by kayak and enjoy a top quality traditional Thai lunch - (well, it is just a bit Farang style).
You learn basic Tropical Kayaking, observe limestone islands and their tidal zone biology, get in some snorkeling and paddle dramatic scenery.
Vistas are great as we pass through the islands of Phang Nga Bay on our way to "Eiffel Tower" island, a disintegrating mass of limestone far from tourist crowds. Kingfishers, Bramany kites, egrets and eagles are prolific as we paddle the clear waters of this island of limestone cliffs, secret beaches, rock gardens and a beautiful Bay.

Circumnavigation takes about an hour of easy paddling, and then it's off to Island #2, a double jewel of white sand beaches, dramatic red cliffs, coral gardens and reef and two sea eagle families. You may think you've seen this island before, and you might be right - it's a favorite of professional photographers and video crews.
After a beach picnic lunch, it's off to the Jewel of the East Bay. We arrive after the crowds to explore a large white sand beach on the windward side with a coral reef good for snorkeling. Then our kayak circumnavigation includes coral gardens, sea arches, a sea tunnel and a large open "hong" accessed via a crevasse that once was a sea cave. We pass between the islands for another hour of late afternoon photo opportunities on our return to the pier.
