At first sight, Bangkok may seem to be a city filled with only large office buildings, cars, motrobikes and food stalls. But only a few metres away you will find a serene environment in one of the little side streets or one of the many temples Bangkok has.

Bangkok is also the cultural hart beat of Buddhism in Asia with temples and the Grand Palace with the holy Emerald Buddha. Not only the Grand Palace is an important holy site, Wat Pho and numerous other temples represent Buddhism in a way that can only be experienced in this bustling captial.  

Other highlights of Bangkok are the Chao Praya river, China Town, the Weekend Market and the many Klongs (small rivers). Besides these famous highlights and other highlights, just wondering through through the streets or one of the local markets is already an experience one does not forget soon!

From Bangkok it is easy to make short daytrips to nearby cultural sights, such as Ayutthaya (the former capital of Thailand a short drive from the city), the floating market or Kanchanburi (with the famous bridge over the river kwai).
